Craving: glass and wood containers

merchant no. 4 containers via design crush

I'm very particular when it comes to containers. And by particular I mean that I will almost always buy the product in the "pretty" container as opposed to any product in an overly designed or busy package. And when that isn't possible (sometimes even the prettiest containers hold not so pretty products,) I either hide the container under the sink (there aren't many options when it comes to comet etc.) or swap it into something prettier. Me neurotic? Never.

So when I saw these over on Design Crush I knew they were right up my alley. I would love a pantry full of these lovelies. Glass and wood- a perfect combination.

Craving: Q and A diary

Potter Style journal via Anthropologie

I'm really bad at keeping journals. To be honest, I'm usually pretty embarrassed whenever I find an old one because of how ridiculous they are.

First, no journal ever has more than 15 entries (and all except the first begin with "I can't believe it's been 2/3/4 months since the last time I wrote! Soooooo much has happened." Why thank you 13 year old, Courtney. I bet a lot has happened. The point of the journal is to write those things down though, not just say stuff has happened.)

Second, I'm beyond emotional (hence the absolute need to write it down of course) and I'm almost always expressing a very strong emotion that I would never want anyone else to find since it's most likely not how I actually feel. Case in point, I've never hated my parents, but without a doubt I'll find something that says I did (which I know was only because writing "I really don't like them right now even if they have a point" didn't seem strong enough.)

And third, I've edited out all of the good parts which makes for a very boring read. (I have an EXTREMELY good memory and can normally remember exactly when I was writing this stuff down. And more importantly, I remember what I didn't write down. Want to know why I edited my entries? Because of Anne Frank. Ever since reading her diary I've been terrified someone would find and publish my diary. Of course, I don't think anyone would stumble upon my 10 ramblings of a 13 year old and have a overwhelming desire to publish it, but still.)

So when I saw this journal in Anthropologie, I knew it was (most likely) something I could keep up with. Filled with questions like "What can you smell right now?" and "Were you a wallflower or a social butterfly today?" you never have to think of something to write. The diary also includes spaces for up to 5 years of answers so you can look back and compare today's answer to what you said years before (and maybe if you've noticed that you've written "I smell something rotten" for the past two years you'll go ahead and deep clean your house. Then not only could you write "I smell the power of Pine-Sol!" you'll most likely also be able to write "social butterfly" as opposed to "wallflower" in your next entry since more friends will come visit you at your now fresh smelling home.)

Oh. And for maximum effect, make sure to include multiple exclamation marks.

Happy Wednesday everyone! (!!!!)

Craving: Glamour Glazed Doughnuts

via here and here

I'm an old fashioned plain glazed doughnut girl myself and for your sake, I hope you don't have anywhere to be if you're in a car with me when the "Hot Doughnuts Now" sign comes on. I will pull a U-Turn no matter what. (Seriously. I once pulled a U-turn on the way to one of my good friends reception because the sign popped on as I drove by. It's a sickness...but such a tasty sickness.)

Anyhow, even if plain glazed is my favorite, there is no way I could turn away from one of these. Celebrating their 10th anniversary, Glamour U.K. teamed up with Krispy Kreme to create these little jewels. Named "Glamour Glaze," they are designed to look like lip gloss and come in two high gloss colors- a hot pink (strawberry) and a purple (black-currant.) Sign me up for a dozen, please.*

*too bad they're only offered in the U.K.

Craving: Boot Pull

this boot pull via smiss miss

So I don't really have a need for this just yet, but one day when we're living where it snows a lot and I'm cursing at myself for having such tight boots on ahem, I mean, wrestling with pulling off my super cute (even if not the most functional) snow boots- I will have a need. And when that time comes, how nice will it be to have something as handy as this?

Of course, I can also see myself placing my boot in it, performing a wildly too dramatic tug (because of aforementioned lack of functional boots that I just had to wear) and then losing my balance and tumbling down to the floor only to be rushed to the hospital because I managed to break my leg or something important like that.

But because I will do this is the comfort of my own home, when y'all see me limping around on (even less snow capable) crutches I will tell you I broke my leg after running away from a bear/mountain lion/rabid raccoon. And you'll have to believe me because I'll live in the mountains.

Maybe I'll even use wild hand gestures and make bear noises (because Lord knows I'm a hand talker and I love a good sound affect.) Hey, while I'm at it maybe I'll toss in something about saving a baby or a puppy or something with as well. You know, for good measure.

Anything besides saying I tripped on the boot pull I just had to have.

Come to think about it, maybe I should just stick to something smaller like this instead.

Craving: Sebastiaan Bremer Photographs

I love Sebastiaan Bremer's work. I saw his work a little over a year ago and it has stuck with me ever since. There is something nostalgic about his work- a hopefulness and innocence in the moments he captures. And I adore how that joy pops across the print in those candy-like speckles. It reminds me of an old 8mm film, except in technicolor (does that make sense? Good.)

Definitely would love to have one of these.
