When there is darkness, bring in the light; when it feels gray, surround yourself with color.
Setting up my painting palette
One of the Christmas presents Jordan got me this year was this amazing ceramic paint palette. Seems like it wouldn’t make such a difference, but seriously- setting up my palettes has never felt so luxurious.

Spotlight on Art
It snowed here in Athens this past Friday and it was lovely. Experiencing snow here in Georgia is so different than how it was when we lived in Denver. Here- because it’s so rare- EVERYONE gets out to play in it. No matter your age, it’s like your inner child just races out to build a snowman or have a snowball fight (both things we did.) In Denver it was calmer and quieter (or frantic as you raced for the slopes) but most everyone was used to it and knew it would last, so there was less need to rush outside. It’s amazing how perspective shifts based on your experiences.
Speaking of perspectives and experiences, this stunner- inspired by the happiness and freedom of childhood games- is heading to Spotlight on Art next week!
If you’ve been wanting to see this painting (and more of my work) up close and personal, now’s your chance. 💙
How I start a painting
How do I start a painting? By getting my thoughts onto paper. Because ideas are great and all, but they don’t fully start taking shape until I begin sketching.
I also have a tendency to talk to myself like I’m recording a live show. Some people think their thoughts *inside* their head, but not me. No, I apparently thrive when talking to an imaginary audience (similar to @jennifer.garner talking on her fake cooking show, but minus the delicious treats.)
That said, my dog is a pretty captive audience (until she sees a squirrel out the window that is.)
Anthophile
Hi. It’s me. Your neighborhood anthophile (which is just a fancy way of saying someone who loves flowers.)
Who’s with me?
Framing art
Always love how framing can completely transform the way we view artwork. I’m usually partial to a simple modern frame with a clean white mat, but floating frames and layered mats (where just a tiny bit of color pops out) still have a way of making me weak in the knees.
What’s your favorite?
Your walls need more soul
Have you ever felt like your home could use a little more soul? Like, you nailed the furniture and the wall color, but it still needs a bit of personality?

What my collectors love
What do my collectors love most about my work? That it has a voice. (Let’s be honest though- the beautiful colors and dynamic floral line work doesn’t hurt either.)
Life is too short for boring art. Buy what speaks to you.
If this piece in particular is calling your name, email me and I’ll send you more details!
POV: You want art as bold and vibrant as you are
Pov: you want art that is as bold and vibrant as you are.
Paintings that are feminine, but not frilly.
Colorful, but not garish.
Sophisticated, yet approachable.
Art that actually SAYS something (not just something that matches your couch.)
If this sounds like you, let’s chat.
New year, same me.
New year, new work, same me.
Because despite what so many of the new year advertisements try to convince us of otherwise, I actually quite like myself and I think you should like yourself too.* So here’s your permission to be 100% authentically you and just do your best to enjoy life, make good memories, and in my case- create some amazing art. Here’s to a wonderful 2025 for us all!
*unless you’re an a-hole. In that case, might I suggest some self reflection and attainable goal setting to be less of an a-hole?
Happy New Year!
Out of office until 2025.
All year you watched what I was working on IN the studio- here’s what was going on OUTSIDE the studio. 2024 in 12 photos.
2024 was a rough year (thanks, cancer) but even so we still managed to find the beauty and make memories.
