"Don't stand up in the boat."
It was the only rule my dad said as he pushed the row boat away from the dock.
Of course, that was before the line got stuck in a tree. His line or mine, I don't remember. What I do remember is my dad standing in the middle of a pond- water dripping from his beard, glasses nowhere to be found- as I struggled not to drop my yellow Snoopy fishing rod from laughing so hard.
After hauling himself back into the boat he looked at me and said, "And that's why you don't stand up in the boat."
