I'm not a little girl anymore

So my bestest texted me yesterday telling me that I had to write about this today and I completely agree. Have you seen the new marie claire? 16 year old Dakota Fanning is on the cover letting us all know that she's "not a little girl anymore."

I actually really like Dakota Fanning. I think she's cute, she seems sweet, and she has manners/class (as of now. who knows if she'll decide to go wild later.). The only thing is, no matter that she is now 16 years old, I can't help but always picture her as an 8 year old bubbly little blonde. The one who would wear princess inspired dresses on the red carpet and brought her sister to an awards show (I have to admit, I googled her before writing this just to make sure I had some facts straight.) A little girl who was a little awkward, but full of energy.

Well she's not exactly little anymore. I didn't know she was in New Moon (I don't watch Twilight so I am out of the loop on the movies) but I did just see a picture of her from the premier a few months back and wow. She did grow up. But she seems to be growing up tastefully. She's trying to be a little sexier, but isn't putting it all out there for the world to see, and personally I think that's great. Speaking of which, I'm in love with the black lace Valentino number she wore to the New Moon premier. Beautiful.

But anyhow, I just wanted to throw that out there because I always feel bad for child actors trying to grow up, so I'm really happy to see one doing well. More often than not, I think they don't always get to have a normal childhood, they don't always have the opportunity to just make mistakes, and sadly, a lot of them never find the way to transition from child actor to adult actor.

So good luck, Dakota. (And even though I can't promise that the image of you screaming for Denzel in Man on Fire won't pop into my head when your name comes up, I'll do my best.)
