I was sitting in World History when my teacher told us the news. I remember kind of laughing thinking "what a horrible horrible thing to joke about" but given that our teacher was one of those overly loud kind of inappropriate joking types, I really wanted to believe that in fact, she was just telling us a horrible joke. But the principal had just stopped by the classroom, and my teacher immediately turned on the t.v. and then images I thought would only be in movies like Independence Day flooded the screen, and I realized that this was actually happening.
I don't remember much more about the day- except that I felt eerily out of my skin while I watched in disbelief as a stillness fell over our nation.
Please don't forget the reason why so many brave people are still giving their lives each and every day.
