I'm not a little girl anymore

So my bestest texted me yesterday telling me that I had to write about this today and I completely agree. Have you seen the new marie claire? 16 year old Dakota Fanning is on the cover letting us all know that she's "not a little girl anymore."

I actually really like Dakota Fanning. I think she's cute, she seems sweet, and she has manners/class (as of now. who knows if she'll decide to go wild later.). The only thing is, no matter that she is now 16 years old, I can't help but always picture her as an 8 year old bubbly little blonde. The one who would wear princess inspired dresses on the red carpet and brought her sister to an awards show (I have to admit, I googled her before writing this just to make sure I had some facts straight.) A little girl who was a little awkward, but full of energy.

Well she's not exactly little anymore. I didn't know she was in New Moon (I don't watch Twilight so I am out of the loop on the movies) but I did just see a picture of her from the premier a few months back and wow. She did grow up. But she seems to be growing up tastefully. She's trying to be a little sexier, but isn't putting it all out there for the world to see, and personally I think that's great. Speaking of which, I'm in love with the black lace Valentino number she wore to the New Moon premier. Beautiful.

But anyhow, I just wanted to throw that out there because I always feel bad for child actors trying to grow up, so I'm really happy to see one doing well. More often than not, I think they don't always get to have a normal childhood, they don't always have the opportunity to just make mistakes, and sadly, a lot of them never find the way to transition from child actor to adult actor.

So good luck, Dakota. (And even though I can't promise that the image of you screaming for Denzel in Man on Fire won't pop into my head when your name comes up, I'll do my best.)

Back to the Future

For all of those who loved the movie Back to the Future, here is an interesting tidbit.

In the movie, Doc sets the DeLorean's time machine to 25 years in the future. TODAY is that day in the future!

Thank you twitter for notifying me of such important life events.

Normally when you think of a vase, you'd think of something glass or ceramic, but these options are just as beautiful! I love the rustic charm of an arrangement in a galvanized watering can, or greenery sprouting out from a silver vase. There is just something so refreshing and humble about the mixing of hand crafted metal and organically arranged flowers. I think this would be beautiful both as decor for a garden inspired wedding or just on a table welcoming spring into your home.

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! We spent all night Saturday dancing with our friends at the pharmacy school formal and after a lazy Sunday morning, we spent the rest of the afternoon in the sunshine as J. tried to teach me how to play disc golf. I can't say I was too good at it, but it was fun trying my hand at something that my husband enjoys so much! Have a great Monday everyone!
