Happy (here are some personal ramblings) weekend

Found this awesome "heart tree" on a hike a few weeks ago. via personal collection

So I have to be honest and say that I don't have a ton of awesome links today. Mostly, because I haven't been around the computer much this week. You see, Wednesday I went up to Athens for the Design*Sponge book signing where I had dinner at The National with the lovely ladies Ginny and Erica and finally got to meet Amy and Grace for real, in person. Who are both wonderful and I hope I get to see again very soon.

Yesterday I had lunch with my sister (of here and here in case you were curious) though just knowing she's my sis should be enough to realize this would be a long lunch full of a lot of hand gestures, giggling, and me creeping out her building security guard as I demonstrated the various levels of a "personal bubble." There are three FYI and the latter is an uncomfortably close "intimate" level. It's most famously known for as the level where "close talkers" feel the most comfortable. Anyhow. So we had lunch, and then I strolled home to the office where I "promptly" made up for time until J. came home. (And since I've been asked, no. His name is not "J" I just feel for google reasons I shouldn't bombard the internet with his name. In case you were wondering what it is though, it's on my about page. Yay! Scavenger hunt!!)

Anyhoo. About the time he came home, I was in the middle of these grandiose plans of a Greek feast for dinner. Fast forward an hour and I am about to be physically ill from whatever disaster I just put in the table. It. was. horrible. Starved and too tired to figure anything else out, we drove in the rain (uphill both ways!) to this amazing little Mexican restaurant where we sufficiently stuffed our faces with rolled tacos, guacamole and fresh churros. Fried dough coated in cinnamon and sugar makes everything better. So yea, lesson learned. I am not capable of making Greek food. Or better lesson learned, I should attempt to make Greek food when I really just want to go out for Mexican.

And finally, today was filled with spending time with one of my best friends who I haven't gotten to see as much of this month and then various meetings in the afternoon. Oh, and buying a new carry on suitcase which I rationalized was absolutely necessary for Alt in January because I didn't have a really good carry on and I'd rather buy one than spend $50 getting ripped off for having the airline check one for me. And did I mention it does 360 degree spins? No? Well it does. Which I demonstrated multiple times as I "tested" it out in the store. (It's not longer considered playing after the age of 5- it's researching.)

So yea. That long recap was basically to say, sorry I don't have anything amazing to share today. That is unless you want to learn how to correctly fold dumplings, what Kim Kardashian's divorce can teach you or if you'd like to see a mat job that would drive me crazy.

Hmm. Well look at that. I did have things to share.

Happy weekend, lovelies!

happy (almost halloween) weekend

A little something I picked up while looking for costume ideas via personal collection

Halloween is just around the corner, but given that it falls on a Monday it seems that everything is taking place this weekend (we have 2 costume parties and had to rsvp "no" to another 2.) What about you all? Any big Halloween plans or are you going to take it easy and stay home?

The language may be offensive to some, but this rant made me crack up. (Mostly the part about PBR)

I'm not a fried egg girl, but I'd have to smile if someone served me this ghoul.

My love for baby giraffes just got even deeper.

This weekend is also one of the biggest college football matchups of the SEC- Georgia v. Florida- also known as the world's largest cocktail party.  J. and I both went to the University of Georgia and are huge UGA football fans so naturally this video warms my heart. (He's saying "Gators wear jean shorts" in case you couldn't tell. Which coincidentally is why I still can't make myself wear jean shorts.)

And of course, no weekend would be complete without a little Ron Swanson. (He's my favorite character on the show. Speaking of... here are cats that look like Ron Swanson.)

happy weekend

this has nothing to do with anything, except that it makes me happy. This is my lovely black lab Bella asking me to play with her instead of work. She won.

I've been helping Ginny set up for an event these past two days and I can't even begin to stress how much more respect I have for event designers/stylists. I always knew it was a hard job, but wow. The long hours, the heavy lifting... it's a lot. (Apparently, painting every day isn't as strenuous on your hands as bending wire, climbing trees to hang lights, moving ladders etc. because as of last night, my band aid count was at 5. Granted, I'm one of those people who will climb up the side of a building via bannisters as opposed to a ladder, so I probably brought this on myself.) Even with all of the hard work though, it's also been a lot of fun and I've had such a great time helping out, hanging out, and seeing "behind the scenes."

And now for the links.

I love these road signs. The "look right" one? Priceless. Speaking of signs, we actually saw the crazy Portland bike sign while we were on our road trip and couldn't stop laughing about it.

Cheese or font?

I want to go to there. (I can't believe we missed this!)

33 ways to stay creative

Oh, I need to make this.

And lastly, I am so happy to find out this commercial was voted the worst. It's so gross. (To be honest though, I think most advertising in general is pretty horrible and speaks volumes about what is now viewed as acceptable and appropriate in our society.)

I'll put away the soap box now... and leave you on a sweeter note. Warning though, it's emotional. This story made me cry big ugly tears. Oh the beauty of true love.

And now that we all have tears in your eyes, it's time to sign off. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! Any big (or little) plans?

Friday! weekend links: october 10th-14th

found on swiss miss originally from here

hellloo Friday, I've been waiting for you all. week. long!

Personally, I think this weekend is calling for fresh chocolate chip cookies to be baked. Maybe we'll even take a hike and eat those cookies on top of a mountain. Or maybe we'll be lazy and just eat them on the couch the moment they come out of the oven. Key point, there will be cookies!

Speaking of food, once fall hits, I start making really hearty meals, but sometimes I just want a good clean pasta like this one. Let's be honest though, I ALWAYS want pasta. I could live off of pasta alone.

Well maybe pasta and these lovely little bites. Almost too pretty to eat aren't they?

Getting off of the food train, sometimes you just need a mini piñata

and a new just girly enough addition to your fall (and winter) wardrobe.

Any big (or little) plans for your weekend?

Happy weekend! (weekend links oct 3-7th)

Now that the temperatures are starting to drop, I'm taking full advantage of all fall has to offer. I've swapped closets, bought pumpkins and wild squash for the table (more on that later,) and we've already lit two fires (in the fireplace of course.) A group of us are making our way to a corn maze sometime soon (I'm a little claustrophobic so fingers crossed I don't start feeling too trapped) and I've already started planning fall foliage hiking trips. There is just something so magical about the crisp air and the changing colors that makes me want to get outside. Are y'all getting in the fall spirit too?

Okay, on to the links.

I am really picky about what lipstick I wear and I've learned the hard way that the perfect color for a friend may not be the perfect color for me. This show proves my point that the same shade of lipstick looks completely different based on who is wearing it.

Speaking of different women, I love this slide show showing Amy Poehler as 30 different alter egos. (Isn't she so much fun?)

I keep hearing that this cake is amazing. I swapped in spice cake mix and so far it smells amazing. Check twitter in about 40 minutes and I'll let you know how it turned out!

Aren't these earrings so romantic?

If only I was a tea drinker. (We have a mini paper robot at the base of our tv so this is right up our alley)

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Weekend links- Sept 26-30th

via sunday in bed

I finally feel like I'm getting back into the swing of blogging (six weeks off can mess up a schedule) and I'm so excited to share some of the cool things I've seen around the web.

I love this sparkly tablescape from the glitter guide

These may not count as a healthy fruit serving, but oh they look so good. Who's up for apple picking?

I love Nicole's make up still lives

Beautifully illustrated ice cream clouds

These photos make me even more excited for fall

Not all those who wander are lost

Speaking of wandering, anyone have big plans? We went to Cocktails in the Garden last night, have a birthday party tonight for one of my closest friends, and for all of you Atlantans that may not know- the Greek Festival is this weekend! I've been dreaming of gyros and baklava for weeks now and I can't wait to indulge. (We're also desperately trying to take advantage of the last few days of kayaking system so fingers crossed we find some river time.) Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

happy weekend!

The weather finally turned cool today so I'm spending some time cozied up in blankets, reading with the windows open and imagining nights when it's cold enough to light a fire. Have I mentioned how much  I love cold weather? It never really feels like fall to me until the weather turns crisp. Speaking of cool, here are some cool things I've found while catching up with blogs and websites (hah cheesiest lead in ever)

I am having a hard time deciding if I like rustic or modern home the most, but with this house I wouldn't have to choose.

Isn't this wedding lovely? (Did you see those lily pads?!)

This red wine chocolate cake sounds wonderful.

Have young kids? Please buy them this.

I once met someone whose mom had a money tree growing up. (Seriously.) I doubt it was as cool as this though!

This is so random, but so cute. Would you stamp your cookies?

have a fabulous weekend

via favim.com

Things are (super) busy around here given that we're taking a major trip in two weeks and have tons of things left to do before then. Even so, sometimes my procrastinating tendencies get the best of me and next thing I know I'm eight blogs deep into beautiful images.

Of course, while that means tough times for me (I hate rushing) it means wonderful pretty things to share with you all.

Speaking of which...

Aren't these sunset photos by Eric Cahan beautiful? Sunsets never fail to take my breath away and these are no different.

We don't do family reunions-our family isn't really that large (I have two cousins. Seriously, two.) but I would happily rock one of these.

Speaking of rocks (like that lead in? yea I thought you might) this agate window is stunning.

Completely unrelated, I have such a soft spot for this balloon animal font. How cute!

Okay, now it's time to get down to business. I have some 30 posts to finish and schedule. Looks like me and Pandora will be spending some quality time together. Have a fabulous weekend everyone!

have a lovely weekend

Not sure what the weekend has in store for us, but as long as it's not storming (like it has for the past few days) I'll be happy. Of course, I can't start the weekend until I get all of this work finished... so I have to run. Before I go though, here are some cool things I've found from around the web.

Clever, Lucerne.Very clever

holy seeds, batman! I wish this was still around.

If I didn't have such a habit of scraping over rocks, this translucent kayak would be a must have. Well that and crystal clear water...

Not exactly sleeping under the stars, but still dreamy.

Speaking of dreamy, how about a glass tub? (I can imagine cleaning it would be a major pain.)

I could definitely vacation here.

Lauren Conrad, I'll forgive The Hills because you created Paper Crown and I'd really like to have that black dress on page 7. And the shirt on page 14... and...15. Oh and the last dress. And the blue one. Seriously. She's created something beautiful here.

Maybe it's just because they bring back memories, but I am itching to make some of these this summer.

A water-slide into the Mediterranean? We need to go here.

365 days, however and whenever you'd like them.

Coolest tripod EVER.

Sailboat popsicles.

One of the coolest things I've seen in awhile. San Fran taken over by bouncy balls. (And yep. It's real!)

And to end on a sweet note... if anyone wants to bring me cream puffs I'll be your best friend forever. (and a huge congrats on Jordan's new site!)

happy (holy cow its already june) weekend

via Bahar Ozdemir

Seriously guys, it's JUNE. How has time gone by so quickly? In an effort to make everything slow down, I'm looking forward to lazy pool days, fresh picnics, and time away from the computer this weekend. Maybe I'll even get around to painting (non-work related.) I was hit with major creative inspiration and want to take hold of it before it's gone!

No matter what we end up doing this weekend, I'm going to suggest absolutely no time restraints. There is something so freeing about not having to wake up by a certain time, not having to be some where at a certain time, etc- don't you agree?

Until the weekend officially hits though, here are some things to get you through these last few weekday hours:

If I had $230 for a portable grill, I'd pick this one.

Looks like someone has a case of the Mondays

The world in cardboard

Design*Sponge gets a face lift (complete with pretty gold ribbon)

Hair dryers and summer just don't mix. That is why I need this sake hair cream by fresh

Oh cherry custard. This recipe sounds amazing. I have an unnatural love for fresh cherries.

Love how this blog makes you think-  if your house was burning, what would you save?

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!
