Happy spring weekend

via here

Last week, J and I converted our dining room table into a ping pong table. While slightly reminiscent of frat houses in college, it's been a blast holding "tournaments" every night. (Plus, our home is way cleaner than any frat house I've been to and there isn't a solo cup in sight. Yes, folks, that is how I rationalize it.) Pretty sure this is going to stick and only come down when we're having overnight guests.

Speaking of overnight guests, our move is less than 10 weeks away! Unfortunately, now we are in this "hurry up and wait" period. We can't very well pack yet (all non essential stuff-like Christmas decorations- is already packed and labeled) and we can't really sign a lease for another month without having to pay for a month that we aren't out there. A little frustrating, but I am getting my fair share of lessons on patience.

Of course, it always helps to have an amazing husband and great friends and family to encourage you and let you know it's all going to work out just fine.

Speaking of great friends, two of mine had me on their blogs this week! The ever lovely Mel shared my work, while the always inspirational Estelle turned the tables and let me inspire her today. Thank you both so much for having me (and for saying such sweet things!) I am still so thrilled and lucky to have met those lovely ladies at Alt and have them as a part of my life now.

Other things that caught my eye this week?

How to cite a Tweet in an Academic Paper (I never liked citing, but now citing tweets? The world's definitely changing.)

May be one of the sweetest (and saddest) love letters ever.

And if you need a good cry, Barney's Version left me weeping.

Beautiful (if slightly trippy) botanical photographs

Are you really too busy? Or is it just not a priority?

And on that topic, remember you are a perishable item; live accordingly.

Happy Friday everyone! I hope it's a wonderful one!!

happy weekend!

Doesn't this look like glass? It's actually just paint!

Happy weekend everyone! I'm spending a lot of today catching up so nothing too exciting to share on the home front. What about you all? Any big plans? (We're going to a concert tomorrow night that I'm really really excited about!)

It doesn't call for tailgating, but if it did I'd definitely think about bringing this wine (it reminds me of Italian ice!)

I could never find a turquoise and gold ring when we traveled through the southwest (silver was favored) but I definitely would have picked up any one of these

I know Easter is still a few weeks away, but these eggs beat any dyed grocery store ones

I'm only 26 and already forget my age. I'm 100% sure this will be me.

Rhode Island would make a perfect single serving egg meal

Also wanted to give a little shout out to my parents. Tomorrow is there 34 wedding anniversary! Happy anniversary you two!!

happy friday!

I feel like this week has gone by really slowly- but in a good way. The kind of way where I've actually been able to fit in leisurely lunches, painting my nails and still getting all my work done. And let's be honest here- they are rarely like that. Because of this though, I haven't be able to fit in a lot of surfing and don't have much to share. Instead of just throwing things at you to fill up a post, I figured I'd just skip the links today and wish you all a wonderful weekend! I hope it's a glorious one filled with sunshine, rest, and great memories.

happy weekend!

I'm still battling this dumb cold (it seems to be nearing it's end) which isn't too fun, but on the plus side it's given me a lot of time to finish up projects and straighten up our home (which unfortunately falls to the wayside when we get swamped with things to do.) It's supposed to rain all weekend long- bummer- but hopefully that means we'll get to soak up the last bits of winter here in Atlanta. It's already hitting the mid 60's so I can only imagine the 90's will be here before we know it.

Another task on the list? Finalize our moving date.

Folks, it's only three months away. THREE. How crazy is that?! We're doing our best to fit in as many dinners, family time, get togethers, Braves games, and concerts as possible before we leave, and to say the least it's going to be a really really busy three months.

Actually, now staying in and relaxing because of the rain sounds quite nice.

Any big plans for you all this weekend?

And to further your procrastination... here are some links that caught my eye:

I can't even think about the fact our pup will die before us. Seriously, I tear up/cry at the mention of "the next dog." According to this chart though, maybe we should get an elephant so I don't have to worry again.

On a lighter note, we're going here. No clue when, but it's too cool to miss.

cool jump drives

Clothes as art

My friend Chelsea is hiring. If you live in Portland, get. on. that.

I have a date with one of my besties today and she's already planning activities via Pinterest. Maybe we should look here?

I bet sweet seduction smells awesome.

Bridal fashion's a changin'

Have a great weekend everyone!!

Happy (almost valentine's day) weekend

so magical. found here photography by Friedrich Seidenstücker

Can you believe Valentine's Day is Tuesday? Neither J. nor I could really wait until Tuesday (we get super excited about giving gifts to each other) so we already had a mini celebration and swapped gifts. (Tickets to see the Civil Wars 3 days after we move to Denver? Heck yea! My husband rocks. Hah. Literally.) That said though, I go all out for Valentine's day so Tuesday is still going to be full of love and glitter. And maybe balloons in the shower.

Still trying to get in the spirit? Maybe these will help.

Amazing cookies for everyone in your life. (Meat cookies anyone?!)

Or make cookies and just add a little love (Anytime I make something for J. he tells me he can "taste the love." This way I could tell him there was exactly 1/4 a cup of love.)
My Dad and I always played Scrabble when I was growing up, (he's a walking dictionary though so I only won if I happened to hit a triple word score or something awesome like that) so of course these made me think of him.

Oh yum.

For my husband, the whittler, a box of wooden chocolates.

My friend Kristin posted about these shirts and J is now officially obsessed.

Happy weekend, everyone!

Happy (how is it already Friday) weekend!

via here

I just ate my lunch. It is 4:19p on Friday and I JUST now ate my lunch. Figured, that would show how crazy things have been lately and hopefully excuse the fact that I'm not super talkative today. All about productivity today people!

So, let's get to this.

First, a few random mini complaints because I feel they need to be addressed (I promise to make them short.)

1) Do not get angry at me if I cut you off after having my blinker on forever and you kept speeding up to not let me over. It's not nice and it makes you look like a crazy person.

2) On the driving topic, stop texting people. I see you doing it and I see you swerving into my lane (or in one particularly unfortunate moment I see you almost hitting me as I walk across a cross walk. Talking to you honda civic outside of Kroger, I'm talking to you.)

Yep, that was it. Driving in Atlanta brings out the complainer in me.

So... onto those links! (Also known as Thank God she's off her driving soap box)

I love campaign dressers and this one is just beyond crafty.

I just made Mexican chocolate biscotti, but as soon as those are gone I think I'll make these.

For all those people who say you're so hungry you could eat a horse, here you go.

One of my friends went to this and couldn't say enough good things about it. Doesn't it look wonderful?

Speaking of wonderful, these rings are amazing.

Okay, now it's back to work. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! (It's supposed to be raining here so I have my fingers crossed for homemade pizza by the fire and then maybe some Superbowl commercial watching on Sunday. I know, it's going to be crazy.)

Happy (almost February) weekend!

because porcupines are the cutest baby animal EVER. You're welcome. via sharon montrose

Happy Friday everyone! I've been planning major catch up this week after taking a week off for Alt, so I'm thrilled that the weekend is in sight. Well, thrilled and terrified because I still have so many things to do today! But as I wait on paint to dry (because there isn't much you can do when that's happening) I figured now was the perfect time to catch you all up on some fun things I've found while perusing the internet.

It's not even February and I'm already getting into the Valentine's Day spirit- these heart shaped cheeses Chelsea posted about would be perfect for a picnic.

I can't tell you how many times I've been asked how to tie a bow tie. Maybe now I'll know how to answer them.

Seeing the Arizona Balloon Show is definitely on my to do list. There is just something so magical about hot air balloons.

A love filled print

I need to make these desserts pronto.

I also need Liz Lemon to be a real person so we can be friends.

Did you go to Alt? Want to know who else did? (or maybe you're just curious) Meg made a huge list for all of our networking and connecting needs.

Speaking of Alt, I get so excited to see people excited about my work.

And speaking of work, it's time to get back to it. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! And fun plans? We're seeing a concert tonight with two of our closest friends and I can't wait to awkwardly dance (see minute 1:45 to understand what I mean) the night away.

See you all on Monday!

Happy weekend!

I really want the dress in the front left

I couldn't be more thrilled that it's Friday- what a crazy, busy week it's been! Of course, this weekend and next week aren't slowing down either so I guess I should just get ready. Alt is just 5 short days away and from what I can tell, everyone is scrambling to pack, get business cards together, and figure out which sessions they want to visit. In addition to that, I'm running through my lesson plans to make sure everyone who is taking my class gets as much as possible out of it! (Oh, and in addition to the holiday, my birthday is Monday so there are all kinds of festivities this weekend! I love birthdays.) What about you all? Any big plans? Or little plans? (We stayed in and watched Moneyball a few nights ago and it was awesome.)

Speaking of Alt- that means flying for many of us. How clever is this mask? (Because seriously, isn't it annoying when you get skipped because your eyes were closed?)

I want a wall of these. And then in the fall, I want to throw all of my old leaves on the ground and act like they fell from the "trees"...

J. hates my key chain- it's kind of... well inefficient I guess... but I know he'd love this one.

I want to vacation here. Wouldn't that be so cool?!

And lastly, a reminder that it really is that easy.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Happy (its december!) weekend

via here

It's December!!!!

So yea, some of you grouch-ma-gees (Wordpress says that's the right way to spell a made up word) out there may dislike December for whatever reason or another, but as for me? I love it. It's cold (and therefore unlike in July or some other horrible hot month, drinking bourbon by a fire  is completely acceptable as is wearing ugly hiking socks "because they're warm" even though we all know it's because they support the best) plus you get to wear cute clothes (peacoats? trench coats? cable knit? tights?! come on people. You get to dress like a bag lady and it's completely acceptable) the world is all lit up with twinkle lights and smells like cinnamon and cookies and people are smiley and whistling Christmas carols. How can you not love it?

Oh. And Elf plays on repeat. You can't not love Elf. *

Speaking of love, the hubs and I also were married in December so there's that awesomeness too. (In case you'd like to celebrate, it's on the 20th. Cards are always welcome.)

Anyhoo, if you can't tell yet, I'm stoked that it's finally December (and that we have a tacky Christmas/SEC Championship party tomorrow night because God knows I love a good overly decked out Christmas outfit.)

and to celebrate that excitement, here are some links.

These glasses are amazing. I claim red.

I knew I didn't like pork rinds for a reason.

You should read this blog. It's great.

You know how I said we had a winter wedding? Well this is a great post about what to wear if you're invited to one.

And lastly, although I fell into the Twitter trap, I still completely agree with Louis C.K. (which reminds me... we have one of his DVDs we still need to watch.)

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!!

*For anyone wondering how I left out Christmas, I didn't. Christmas is my favorite holiday ever so therefore it being one of my favorite parts of December is just understood.

Happy (almost Thanksgiving) weekend

Ginny, Erica, me, Grace and Amy goofing off at the Design*Sponge book signing in Athens

I realized yesterday that "holy cow, next week is Thanksgiving. And then it's our anniversary, then Christmas, then my birthday, then Alt, then Valentine's day, then..." Next thing I knew, I was stressing about moving next May. (I am not exaggerating here. It was kind of fascinating to watch how quickly my list of 3 things to do turned into like a bajillion. Apparently I can't multitask like this guy.)

So, in an attempt to get everything done in 5 minutes (my strategy to combat my procrastinating tendencies) I ended up triggering a migraine and got absolutely nothing done. Oh, irony. You're so funny.

Plus side of it all though, is that my lovely husband made me my favorite dinner (grilled cheese and tomato soup. Yes, I'm 5.) while I burrowed under blankets moaning about how loud the crickets were and how it felt like someone was hitting me with a sledge hammer. I'm such a pleasure to be around when I'm not feeling well. But anyhow, I guess that teaches me, right? I normally strive to maintain a very peaceful, low key life and when I start to freak out and worry my body fights back with a vengeance.

So in order to make my body like me again, I decided to aimlessly wander around the internet to find things to show you.

Oh, and I ate a sugar cookie. My body especially liked the sugar cookie.

As pretty as it may be (and as type A as I might be) I doubt my frig will ever look like this. I'll let you guess which of these I resemble most.

I wear a lot of neutrals, but these may bring just the right amount of punch to my winter wardrobe

Of course, then I'd need to watch this every time I tried to wear one. The girl far right second from the bottom has the best "waiting on her turn" moves.

Maybe I'll just stick to necklaces. Gold necklaces.

And two things completely unrelated- this website rocks, though I'm not sure what it says about me when all my music choices tell me to drink Hennessy or Red Bull.

This just creeps me out. Probably because I don't like dolls. Or mannequins. Or wax statues... pretty much anything that is supposed to look real but isn't.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Happy Veteran's Day Weekend

via here

This is going up later than planned, but I wanted to stop in and say Happy Veteran's Day to all those who have served in the military. We owe so much to you all and I can't say thank you enough.

On a different note:

I have a major weakness for all things handwritten, so of course I love this.

Only thing better than regular waffles? Animal shaped waffles.

Free people's party dresses are unbelievably enchanting.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!
