happy (end of june) weekend
Seriously can't believe that 4th of July is next week. Craziness. Other things that are kind of crazy? We've lived in Colorado for over a month, J is a licensed pharmacist (crazy in the fact it's still a little surreal,) and we're seeing our first show at Red Rocks this weekend. Exciting times, people.
And on to the fun stuff.
I'm a sap, so most things about love get to me. This series (by Lauren Fleishman) in particular made me smile so much because it's just so honest. Just some friendly social media advice from your Grandmother I wonder if this would smell awesome, or more like you just blew out a lot of matches. I'm guessing awesome. I want to go to there and here
Have a great weekend everyone!
happy (fathers day) weekend!

This week has been a whirlwind of craziness and I can't believe it's already Friday. J is taking the NAPLEX as I type (and to be honest, I'm not good at this whole waiting to hear how it went thing) and I've been working to get orders out the door. To say the least, this week has been filled to the brim with studying, proofs, and painting. Somehow, despite the craziness, we managed to hang the shelves in the office so things are finally starting to really come together around here. This weekend is also Father's Day! (I set an alarm on my phone to remind me to mail my Dad's cards on time. That's how bad I've been at remembering days this week.*) My dad has always been a truly exceptional person and I am so fortunate to have him as my father. I consider him one of my closest friends and always know that he has my back, and I hope he knows that I always have his as well. Thank you for being such an awesome dad, Dad! You're seriously the best.
What about all of you? Any big Father's Day plans?
*yes I said cards. Plural. I never can pick just one so I usually send a funny one and a sappy one. You know the kind. The ones with like 3 pages of sappiness? Yea, my dad and I are the people who buy those.
Happy Weekend!

Okay, so when I said I was back, I meant more in a "hey, I've caught up on my emails" kind of back. Not the kind of back that means, "hey! I'm back to daily posting!" because honestly, I ran out of time this week. You see, while exhilarating and awesome- a cross country move kind of takes away your time to get the stuff you REALLY need to finish, finished. In my case, those things would be orders. And if I wasn't crazy enough, I decided to take on a rush order because she seemed super sweet. So instead of browsing the internet to find awesome and inspiring things, I'm inspiring myself by 12 hour painting days. (I've had 4 this week.)
That hasn't put a damper on exploring our new city though. In fact, here is a quick recap of what we've been up to:
-shot a "day in the life" photo shoot (more on that later)
-hiked 5 miles to see a beautiful waterfall
-took a mini 240 mile road trip to explore all of Rocky Mountain National Park
-had drinks overlooking downtown Denver and ice cream served from a giant sized milk jug (i.e. the building was actually milk jug shaped)
-found awesome breakfast places we need to try and then tried a few Diners, Drive In's and Dive restaurant choices. (They were all amazing and one is just down the street and has fried chicken. Be still my heart.)
-and of course, I am driving J crazy with the arranging, rearranging, and then total rearranging I'm doing to our new place. Have I mentioned what a great sport he is?
And as for this weekend, we have festivals, get togethers and more neighborhoods to explore. If you know of anything we just have to do or see in Denver, I'm all ears! I hope you all have a lovely weekend and I'll see you next Monday.

Hello everyone! First off, thank you all for you amazing comments yesterday. You all are absolutely wonderful! Second off, I had my very first in home massage today (as in, they come to your home and you don't have to do anything besides be pampered) and dear goodness it was amazing. I'm completely hooked. (If you're in Atlanta, I'd recommend Stephen at Metta Station. He rocked.) Another thing I'm hooked on? Genifique by Lancome. My sister told me to try it (she uses it) and now my skin is soft, dewy, and smells awesome. (If you want to try it, I'd recommend going by Dillard's this weekend because Lancome has their gift with purchase going on until Sunday.) Also, if you were curious as to why posts were light this week, we actually ran off to Florida for the week to see J's family and get in some beach time before we move out West. It was so nice to take a break from the stress of moving, my dad being in the hospital (he's doing much much better now. thanks for all of the well wishes!) and just work in general. Now we're both well rested, loosened up and ready for what's to come!
And now on to the links.
By far the prettiest candle arrangement ever.
I love the gold duck
I think I need a hanging daybed.
We have a wedding tomorrow (so excited for these two) and I can't lie. I'd be stoked if it was a taco party.
And in case you missed it, I love this collaboration/concept. (My post went up yesterday!)
Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!!

This week has been a doozy. Between my dad having surgery (he's doing well which is beyond wonderful) and today being J's VERY LAST DAY of pharmacy school, (it still hasn't sunk in) I've been experiencing a lot of emotions. Most of all though has been gratitude. Gratitude my dad's okay, gratitude we've made it through 4 years of a doctorate program and get to move to Colorado, gratitude for having such an caring and supportive husband, gratitude for our spectacular friends and family... it's all really amazing and a little overwhelming. (In a good way; at times I feel like my heart is going to burst!)
So with all that has been going on this week, I hope you'll understand why I don't have anything to share link-wise today. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and I'll see you Monday!
Happy Friday!
I procrastinate packing by going through old photos. This one is from a Braves game a year or two ago. via personal collection
The move is coming up quickly and our home is finally reflecting that. Our artwork is down and bubble wrapped, the drapes are down (rods as well) and all of our "we don't use this everyday so we might as well start boxing it up" stuff is slowly actually getting boxed up. It's a little bittersweet packing everything up though. While it's not the only place we've lived, it is the home we moved to for J to start pharmacy school, where we lived when we got married, and where we'll be when J finishes school next week. It's where we had friends and family over, held Christmas mornings, and celebrated birthdays; it's where my business was started, recipes were tested, and parties were held- even small memories like carrying our kayaks up and down 3 flights of stairs every time we took a river trip, or all 3 of us napping on the floor (that includes Bella) are flooding back with each box we pack. It's amazing how much has happened in the last 4 years, and it only makes me that much more excited to see what the next 4 years will bring (and the 4 after that, etc.)
I heard a quote once by C.S. Lewis that said “Isn't it funny how day by day nothing changes but when you look back everything is different....” and it's so true. (And reminds me to focus and appreciate the little things that each day brings.) These next weeks promise to hold a lot of change, and be jam packed with activities and memories and I'm doing my best to slow down and appreciate them all.
With all that said, I hope you all will understand why my links this week are super light. I haven't had a lot of time to surf the internet but I did still want to share a few cool things that came up on my radar.
I would never be able to bath with these. They are just too beautiful!
Doesn't this remind you of those "candle making" shops? You know, where they cut away and bend back layers of the candles to show all the layers?
When we went to Germany a few years back we took a (long) hike through the Black Forest to a restaurant far off the beaten path. There I had the most amazing blueberry pancake of my life. This is the closest recipe I've found for a similar pancake and I'm dying to try it.
J is still trying to get me to share in his love of biking, and this may help his case.
Have a wonderful weekend everyone!!
Happy (don't forget your taxes) weekend
Image from This is Market via here
We've already done our taxes, but I thought I'd remind any one out there that may have forgotten. Penalties suck so make sure it's postmarked in time!
That tidbit aside, I hope all of you had a fantastic week! In addition to the usual, a friend and I went to the Georgia Organic's This is Market event at the Sweetwater Brewery last night, which promoted eating from and supporting local farmers markets. (While eating a strawberry basil popsicle I was informed by my sister exactly where the strawberries and basil were farmed. I thought she was joking at first, but she was completely serious. Great work farmers!) The food was spectacular, the atmosphere was great, and most of all the company was phenomenal. Oh! And there was a Smilebooth so we came home with more than enough goofy photos of ourselves.
Did I mentioned that it was one of my sister's events? No? Well it was, and I was so proud of the amazing job she (and Georgia Organics) did. Without getting too sappy, she's an amazing person, an incredibly talented event planner and an environmental attorney to boot. Yea, I have a pretty cool sister.
Other things that are pretty cool?
We saw J's parents yesterday and we get to see mine tonight. Neither live in Atlanta so this is a treat!

And this is what happens when designers have children (p.s. cutest names ever.)
Just in case you were curious, this is how to bathe a chicken.
How Paris really looks at night
It's gettin' real in the Whole Foods (I loved this. $80 for 6 items? Yep.)
Have a wonderful weekend everyone! Any big plans for you all?
Happy (Easter) weekend!
Nothing says Easter like awesome lace collars via my personal collection
Sorry for being MIA this week. My mom came to visit Sunday-Tuesday, I've been working like a crazy woman on wedding orders and note card orders, I volunteered to be part of a silent auction (not something I normally do, but it's for my sister so you know, some exceptions have to be made!) and today was CAMP (a get together for creatives to socialize and inspire each other) at the goat farm hosted by the lovely ladies of the studio space (Ginny Branch, Erica Loesing, Maria Taylor, and Amy Osaba) and the amazing people of Sun in My Belly (true story, I was their event manager's RA in college. Yep, I feel old.)
So yea, it's been a really busy busy week. Promise I'll be back next week. But to make things better, how about a childhood photo from the 80's to make up for it? Yea, I thought that might help. Have a wonderful weekend everyone! (Good luck finding the golden egg!)
Happy (April Fools) Weekend
I really hope my sister doesn't kill me for this one (but come on, it's so cute!) via personal collection
Holy cow IT'S ALMOST APRIL. How did that happen?
This week has been super crazy (finishing up proofs, my in-laws were visiting, doctor visits...) and it doesn't lighten up this weekend either. Luckily, it's all fun things (dinner plans, parties, concerts, and my mom is visiting) so I'm looking forward to it!
All that said, my hectic schedule still hasn't stopped me from perusing the internet:
Our shoot went live on Wednesday! (More about that on Monday)
These plates are BEAUTIFUL (via my friend over here)
Still can't get over how awesome these place cards are
I know it's spring and all, but I'm still looking at tall socks
Sometimes you just need to slow down to fully appreciate it. In this case, it's ballet. (And I know it's not the main focus, but I love how wavelike the fabric appears behind them)
I am 100% sure I wore shoes just like this when I was 7. And of course, now I want them again. Heck, if you can comfortably play freeze tag in them, they have to be able to handle some simple city walking.
And even though we are the ones leaving, I still completely understand woe number 1
Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!
Happy (st. pattys day) weekend
Happy Friday! Last night we stayed out later seeing a phenomenal show put on by the Wood Brothers (and by complete chance ended up meeting them afterwards while trying to buy a CD) so I hope you'll excuse the fact I'm running a little slower than usual today. On that note, I'm going to get back to work, but I wanted to share a few links with you all.
The best iPhone camera ever.
Because we're moving, I've been going through a lot of old photographs and putting them into albums (finally.) This project reminded me of how it felt going through all of those memories.
How the world would look if hipsters ruled
Beautiful clothes for a great cause
And lastly, in case you want to hand deliver (or send belated) cards, check out my tutorial.
Have a wonderful St. Patrick's Day weekend!!
