Craving: moody baubles

Clockwise from top: rings by- Martin Katz, Tamsen Z, Kimberly McDonald, and David Yurman- photographed for W Magazine

How beautiful are these rings? They look like mini planets for your fingers. Or like a mood ring done right...

And not only do I love the look of these (the Kimberly McDonald is my fave in case anyone wants to pick one up for me,) but I absolutely adore that they were styled with an insect. I illustrated a lot of insects in college (scientific illustration major, what what) and I was always fascinated by how colorful some of them were. This captures that opalescent beauty perfectly.

Craving: candy color gemstone earrings

via Kate Spade

Confession, I actually already own these. J bought them as one of my birthday presents last month. Either way though, I'd been crushing on them for awhile by then and now I can attest that they.are.awesome. I'm not normally a pink girl, but I love this color- more of a raspberry than a pink, letting them be playful and girly, but still pretty glam at the same time. And although I rarely wear studs (much more of a dangly earring gal) I've definitely been making an exception for these beauties.

craving: black and gold

via pour porter

I took a look at my closet and realized I wear a lot of black (pretty easy to tell since I color coordinate my closet and all.) But then I looked at my jewelry and noticed it's pretty much all gold. Modern, vintage, girly, structural- doesn't matter- it's gold. All that taken into account, I'm convinced I need this bracelet.

Of course, as I've mentioned I have tiny wrists so this would actually be way too big, but I'm going to disregard that fact right now.

craving: sensibly selfish

I Wanna Be Sedated via Sensibly Selfish

Probably just under a year ago, my friend Kristin talked with me about started a jewelry line. For as long as I've known her she has always had a special gift when it came to jewelry making and design so it only seemed fitting that she turn that passion into a career. Fast forward to a few days ago to when she announced the launch of her company- Sensibly Selfish. The line is fabulous- and exactly what I would expect from her. You see, Kristin has a graceful kindness about her that is paired perfectly along side an innate sense of style and rock star edge- and that translates fully into each one of her pieces. My favorite earrings are above, but every piece is so unique and beautiful it's hard to pick just one. Of course, with prices like hers, you don't really have to choose.

(Congrats on your line, Kristin! I'm so excited for you!)

Craving: Arrowhead Studs

Kathryn Bentley arrowhead studs via Beklina

I'm a big earring type of gal, but sometimes you just need a pair of studs- like when you are wearing an awesome necklace that would compete with said big earrings. And on days like that? These studs by Kathryn Bentley would be perfect. Even more perfect if you are like myself- i.e. not a big fan of diamond or pearl studs.*

*On that note, I also can not pull off a cardigan. One of my best friends can rock all kinds of cardigans- from preppy to eclectic- and always look laid back and cool. Me on the other hand, I look like I'm either dressing as a First Lady or just one apple button cover away from being a kindergarten teacher.

happy (memorial day) weekend!

This weekend is one of my best friend's weddings and I am so excited we get to celebrate with her and her new husband! (I'm still incredibly honored she asked me to stand by her side.) Seeing two people that mean so much to us promise to love and support each other for the rest of their lives makes my heart smile. It's such a momentous, touching, and love filled occasion and I can't wait to be there. (I've already warned her I may tear up.)

Now on to the links:

I need this ring.

Have you seen these photos? So amazing.

Normally I steer clear from jello shots (I don't think you should have to chew your drink) but these have me giving them a second look.

These are CARDBOARD. (I know!)

I think a giant balloon could make any one's day.

I love NYC, but this cracked me up.

And speaking of weddings, someone propose with this. gorgeous!

Hope you all have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!

*I also wanted to say a big thank you for everyone who has sent their kind words to me about my grandmother. They mean the world to me and I really appreciate them (and you all.)
