gold

The first time I saw Mammoth Springs in Yellowstone I was blown away. There is an eeriness to it- almost like it's from another world. Combine that with signs telling you to stay back (unstable grounds atop acid are not made for walking on) and you can't help but be intrigued. What's more is that when the sun hits it just right, the whole place seems to glow from within and glistens like it's been dusted by gold and silver. It's absolutely breath taking.

I love the colors of this board- the burnt terra-cotta, the parchments, the olives, the golds. There is a sophisticated simplicity to them that reminds me of sun setting over an olive tree grove.

This combination kind of makes me want to run through a meadow- or at least buy a pretty springtime dress.

I love the drama of these colors together. And everyone knows that things only get better when you add twinkle lights.
craving: black and gold

I took a look at my closet and realized I wear a lot of black (pretty easy to tell since I color coordinate my closet and all.) But then I looked at my jewelry and noticed it's pretty much all gold. Modern, vintage, girly, structural- doesn't matter- it's gold. All that taken into account, I'm convinced I need this bracelet.
Of course, as I've mentioned I have tiny wrists so this would actually be way too big, but I'm going to disregard that fact right now.

There is something incredibly luxurious about saturated colors. The depth of an emerald, the bright yellow of a freshly picked lemon, the creamy brown of fine leather- you only need a hint of a truly saturated pigment to make an impact. I think that's why I've had this photograph stuck in my mind for months now. The punch of cherry red from the shoes paired with the slight glimmer of the gold just hooked me. On one hand the combination reminds me of old libraries, formal dining rooms and the opulence normally reserved only for palaces (or homes that wished to be palaces), but when used in small doses there can also be something very curated and elegant about it. Like adding the perfect red lipstick to a normally mundane jeans and t-shirt combo, or seeing a red vintage bike propped up outside of an old faded cafe wall. Either way though, I always love the vitality these colors bring with them.

Gold, Shell, and Mist
With the weather finally starting to turn around here in Atlanta, I decided this was the perfect board to post. I was immediately intrigued with the top photo and wanted to create a wedding inspired by it. A wedding that captured the colors of the beach in the morning; grayish misty blues, the whites of bleached shells on the beach, the creams of the sand and of course the various golds created by reflected sunlight on the water. Hope you enjoy!
