Studio Sneak Peek: Floral Oil Painting

Untitled Floral Oil Painting by Courtney Khail

"Untitled Flowers" 30"x 36" via courtney khail

I took some time this weekend to work on a personal project. I started this painting a few months ago and hit a wall when it came to finishing it. Luckily, I was re-inspired Saturday and this is what evolved. I love the bright colors against the deeper background and although you can't really see it in the photograph, I built up layer upon layer of subtle foliage before "hitting" the bright flowers so there is a beautiful depth to the piece. Hope you guys enjoy it!

Munich Flower Market

I thought I would share a few of the pictures I took in the markets of Munich. Aren't the hydrangeas just beautiful?? I was tempted to get some for our hotel room, but we were checking out the next day so I refrained. Hope everyone is doing well!

a little blurry, but you get the idea!

The earth laughs in flowers

At first glance this seems like a really cool print. But look closely (or just read this) and you'll see that those are actually tulip fields from the Netherlands. I'm a little biased since tulips are my favorite flower, but seriously, how cool is this?! Reminds me of a more geometric version of Italian sunflower fields.

apparently the Netherlands produce more than 9 million of these a year.
