Honey and Blues

I've never been much of a honey fan (probably because I don't really like tea...), but I absolutely love the color of it! Mix that with the beautiful blue night skies of summer and you have the recipe for an absolutely beautiful wedding. I tried to stick with the fun and playfulness of a golden yellow, but glam it up a bit with spicy browns and a sky full of dark navys and indigos. Enjoy!

Espresso and Cream

Chocolate brown is already such a dramatic color, but paired with various shades of cream it becomes even more luxurious and stunning. This board was inspired by a table Emily over at Once Wed posted about- Joy's centerpiece was absolutely breathtaking! I loved how she incorporated everything from candles and branches, to linen and crystals. This wedding would be perfect for the hopelessly romantic couple wanting to evoke a lot of glamour and romance to their party, esp if it was held in a place like this.

Gold, Shell, and Mist

With the weather finally starting to turn around here in Atlanta, I decided this was the perfect board to post. I was immediately intrigued with the top photo and wanted to create a wedding inspired by it. A wedding that captured the colors of the beach in the morning; grayish misty blues, the whites of bleached shells on the beach, the creams of the sand and of course the various golds created by reflected sunlight on the water. Hope you enjoy!

Laughter

I saw this photo posted by Emily over at Once Wed and was just in awe of how beautiful the whole scene is and how well it would fit the outdoor inspiration I posted a feel days ago. The dress itself is remarkable, but the bride's body language makes me think she is caught up in laughter. And what is better than that on your wedding day (let alone any day!) ?

Speaking of laughter (or even just smiling) if you are a bride, please remember to do this! There have been a few weddings I know of where the bride just looked miserable. Completely stressed out, frowning (or scowling) and it just made all of the guests uneasy. Nothing ruins a good party like a moody host! Not to mention the amount of money the couple probably paid for awesome photography only to look back on the photos and see the bride looking like a Negative Nancy! I forgot where I read this, but another blogger put it perfectly (even though I am paraphrasing) "No amount of artistic ability can make an unhappy bride look good." So remember to smile and have fun! We've all heard of the horror stories of weddings (or watched this) so go ahead and expect the cake to fall, the flowers to wilt, and for their to be rain. (It actually rained the day J proposed to me, but I always thought it was so romantic to dance in the rain so he started singing our song and that's exactly what we did.) But like I keep saying, no matter what happens, on your wedding day or any other day, take it in stride, look for the good, and ALWAYS remember to smile.

A Santa Fe sunset

via style me pretty

I found this wedding over on Style Me Pretty's blog. Shot by Gia Canali, this wedding is absolutely beautiful to me. The colors were based off of those found during a Santa Fe sunset, and I think they work just wonderfully together. For more on the wedding, head over here.

Outdoor Celebrations

When the weather starts to warm up there is nothing I crave more than to go outside! What's even better is an outdoor party with homemade goodies, relaxed conversation and sparkling drinks. I love how beautiful a space can become with hundreds of candles, lanterns, and twinkling lights, not to mention the amazing colors that are created with those types of lighting! On that note, I thought I would put together a board focused just on that type of celebration. Enjoy!

*Throughout the week I will post pictures of weddings that remind me of the same feeling and could easily mesh with this kind of party!

Pastel Wedding

I always loved dyeing eggs and with Easter right around the corner I thought I would bring back those memories with a Easter egg inspired board. I focused on a huge variety of pastel colors (just like what you would find with an egg hunt!) and a very family focused dinner. Lots of homemade items (like the pastel cupcakes) and fun vintage prom inspired bridesmaids dresses (anyone else remembering tons of white tulle, pastel sashes and socks trimmed with lace? Thought so :) ) Just like brunch on Easter Sunday, this wedding would be an incredibly laid back occasion (think handpicked bouquets) where everyone pitched in before the celebration. And does anyone remember the potluck picnics held after church? Where you bring something according to your last name? That would be such a cute idea with a wedding like this!*

Enjoy!

A Garden Party

Created by Chelsea Fuss (and found on Once Wed) I immediately fell in love with this simple table scape from the moment I first saw it. With the weather here flip flopping between the beautiful 70's one day and snow the next, I would love to kick off the warm weather (whenever it decides to come back) with a simple dinner party decorated like this. Doesn't it remind you of the board I created a few days ago (with that awesome yellow and white party dress)?

Not only is the table beautiful, I absolutely love how Chelsea tied in family style dining by including bottles of lemonade and laid back wild flower arrangements. Nothing stuffy about this party :) Oh, and did I mention it is all very easy to DIY and relatively inexpensive? For more info, read here. Here's to hoping for warm weather! Enjoy!

Magnolias, Monograms, and the Masters

For those of you that do not know, I grew up in Augusta, Georgia and have a very special place in my heart for the Masters golf tournament. Now I don't really like golf (too slow of a sport for me), but every Masters week I will have at least one T.V. on everyday displaying the beautiful course (as well as nonstop highlights and scores.) It only takes one second of the prerecorded nature sounds and the mention of Amen Corner to send a flood of childhood memories back to me. So in honor of my hometown, I thought I would do a Masters inspired board today. Not surprisingly, it was a little tough- there are just some things you can't mess up. So here are somethings to remember:

#1: Masters=a huge Southern tradition. Things like draped white tablecloths, mint juleps, and champagne punch are all "must haves". Oh, and don't forget the monogram. The joke is that in the South, after asking your name, more often than not you're asked for your Mother's maiden name as a way to find out your family line. Some find this backwards, others just tradition, but either way a classic white on white monogram will always be found.

#2 A Masters wedding is a preppy wedding. Seersucker and khaki will most likely always find their way into the scene as will a lot of magnolias. These huge beautiful trees line most of the oldest streets of Augusta, but more importantly they line the main entrance into the course. Other important flowers to use (or have growing if this is in someone's backyard) are azaleas and dogwoods. Augusta is known as the Garden City, and these shrubs and trees explode into beautiful whites, pinks and red right around the Masters.

#3 The colors. This is probably the most important part. There are certain colors associated with the Masters- most notably the coveted green jacket. It's a very particular green (no lime here!) but since it is so hard to match, the closest green to use would be the color of magnolia leaves. Kind of a lush, dark green. For the other colors that can be incorporated just look to the logo (the U.S. is a warm yellow, Augusta is marked with a red flag, and Masters is written in white).

Any way... I hope y'all have fun looking at this one (as well as got a good laugh at how seriously Augustans take this tournament :) ) Have a great day everyone!!

Sunshine and Party Dresses

This started as a wedding board, but it ended up more as a birthday/cocktail/brunch party board. Which is amazing, since that would mean you could wear the fantastic white and yellow dress as your party dress! I just love how fun and vibrant yellow is; it's such a refreshing color. Enjoy!

Paris Je T'aime

Paris has to be one of my favorite places in the entire world. I love the fashion, the pastries, the art... everything. It's just such a fun place to be and there is never. ever. a dull moment. Favorite place ever was Montmartre. It's the last village of Paris where Renoir, Monet, Van Gogh, Picasso all lived in late 19th/early 20th century and its streets are still filled with amazing artists displaying their artwork. Maybe that's why I loved it so much, it felt like home :)

On that note, I designed this board based off of my love for Paris and the type of feeling I think wedding there would have. A carefree elegance with a lot of cream, gold and navy accents- and of course amazing breads and pastries.
